Tasting Notes: Aglianico is Campania's most important red grape, and it can be used to make dark, powerful, leathery wines that reward (and require!) a decade-plus aging after release. A slow, gentle, fermentation gives plenty of fruit and structure, a year in French oak rounds off the tannins without adding "oak" flavor, and then years in bottle before release lets the wine develop into something full of fruit supported by rounded, supple, tannins.
Food Pairing: A great wine for pork, lamb or beef but one you'll enjoy with simple antipasti like olives and hard cheeses. A gem!
